Enough - Twin Poems

isn't enough
to wash away
my rot

sprinkling
baptism
accept the holy price

wash the stain away
try
but
i'll just be filthy again
in five minutes

this hourly bath
drains rivers
just so I can smile
lift my head

maybe water
would be better used
elsewhere
on stains that wash away.

no rot remains

drains no rivers

just smile
lift my head
freed

These twin poems seem inseperable. Opposite, but bound together.

They are both true in any given year - the hope and discouragement both are part of this journey to live like Christ, in Him. Sometimes, for a brief season, I forget that I cannot save myself. My works and efforts do not make me acceptable. When I forget that, I am lost, hopeless.

Then, for a moment, I remember and understand God's grace and love and have hope and love and grace to share. I can again lift my head. ...until the next time I forget, and so it goes.

I love that! Really! The 'twin' ness of it is so fitting. :)

You are an amazing poet! Just reading these beautiful words brought a tear to my eye! We are all hopeless without God's grace! I am so glad He isn't stingy with it!!!
