Beautiful

It must be fun to paint the sky
with the colors of the sun
to invent blue, purple and red -
to add new light to ordinary colors
everyday

It must be fun to color air
God must smile
as He stretches clouds
across the sky
in different lines,
spreading them like cotton
swirling grey and white webs
in the wind

It must be fun to breathe life into life.
The colors he uses in spring
to revive trees
with tender green curls
or to coax red and yellow
flowers from the earth,
in their vivid detail
move me
God must be a painter

It must be fun
to draw my smile
I am flattered
and aspire to be beautiful
