The War Is On

Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last- salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth- the one who accuses them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10

I am under constant attack. Pressure, guilt, rejection, addiction, pride … the Enemy knows my weaknesses and presses in: day and night.

I am at war. But it is not between me and people who annoy me. I’m not at war with prostitutes, drunks, homosexuals or Muslims. We are all people – created by Almighty God for His purpose.  People are a team – all people, Christian and non - and the war is against Satan.

The Enemy’s great trick is division – if we fight against each other, we become his ally! We aid him in destroying our own team. Our great weapon is unity in Jesus Christ. If I’m busy pecking at someone, criticizing or judging, I am an ally of the Enemy. But if I can look at every person as a hand-crafted work of God made for His glory, I can start to see them on the invisible battlefield. If they’re injured, I can see enough to help. If they’re dying in the field, I can see enough to pull them back.

Some people are wounded in battle and crying out for help. Some are dying in the battlefield. Some are pulling the wounded to safety. Others stand by, watching.

The war is on, and I decide with each word and every action which side I’m fighting for.

Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm
against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:11-12

Hi Kim,

Thanks for sharing this timely and helpful devotional. I believe we must stop looking at others as the enemy; Christ died for all. Each of us as Christians have a responsibility to show those who are hurting, dismayed and without hope that God does love them.

Blessings and peace.

Hi MTJ. Yes! It has been so easy for me to take my salvation and wander off, content with my 'fire insurance'. But God made the lost too, and will seek them relentlessly. (I was one of them - we all are)

As a disciple, I pray God gives me a similar heart - a compassion for all people - His love, so that they might know Him and believe.

Such an EXCELLENT reminder. Too often we forget who we are really battling. Thanks for finding me - and allowing me to find you. :)

Thank you, Kim, for this timely message. Just this morning in my one-year reading plan were these words from Ephesians. I was also greatly encouraged by these words from verse 13: "Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will be STANDING FIRM." That's my prayer - the war is on - Lord, just help me to stand firm.

GOD BLESS!
