This is my friend Jess. She, her husband Sam, and their toddler plan to live as missionaries in Bolivia for the next year.
(It's hard to see with the glare off the frame, but that spider is apple-sized and so are the crazy-big beetles!)
Check out the delectible selection of cakes at their Bolivian Bash and Cake Auction. Yummers.
(the musician is Haley Cook - beautiful alternative/folk artist! Here's a You Tube of her) |
What especially touched my heart was Sam and Jess’ inclusion of us in their important work. “It’s not just us” they said, “You’re part of our team!”
I'm reminded of God's promise in Mathew 10:41,42.
"If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”
This weekend I witnessed some interesting skills being used to reach others with Jesus' love.
-baking cakes
-selling Epicure
-selling coffee
-auctioneering
-singing / playing guitar
-speaking into a microphone
-cleaning up chairs
-replenishing food trays
-decorating tables
-helping kids decorate cupcakes
-paying large amounts of money for cake
God uses these easy-to-overlook acts of love to accomplish His purposes. It all counts!

Kim, thanks so much for including this in your blog! I'm so glad you could come on Saturday. I'm still a bit in shock at how it all turned out, God answered our prayers in so many ways.
Hi Jess! Glad to! I was glad I could make it. It did turn out well! :)
