'Doing It'

(Image from www.freechristianillustrations.com -check 'em out!)

A few years ago, my two children were babies. I loved them, but felt as though I wasn’t doing enough ‘just staying home’ with them. I begged and pleaded for something great to do. One day, my loving Father spoke clearly to my heart:

‘You’re doing it’.

You've seen me reach and stretch and wrestle, trying to figure out the next thing to do... I'm reminded of His words again. Good words. Encouraging, but so easy to forget when nothing seems to change... Maybe I’m Elijah hiding in a cave, wondering why my dream of changing the world – even a small piece of it – hasn't come true. Maybe I’m Noah, building an ark in the sunshine for no apparent reason.

I’m a mom, raising two people who will touch countless lives. I’m a writer whose words encourage others. It doesn't matter how many, it matters for Whom.

I'm doing it. My job is to obey - to do my small part which is, though small, important. Vital. My big important task is to do what I've been given to do, believing that it DOES matter and it DOES make a difference - not because of the size of the task, but the size of the God who calls me to it.

I can’t produce fruit. That’s God’s job. (Gal 5:22) My job is to sow.

… sow and trust.

I can do that. (Help me do that Lord! ) I can choose contentment in this task. I can trust, and do all things as for God and not for men. I can believe that my today, however 'hum drum' (or even invisible) it may seem, has the power to affect change because Almighty God is in it and He is good and powerful and can be trusted.

"Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm,
for God can be trusted to keep his promise."
Hebrews 10:23

"How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours!"
Psalm 116:5

Thank you Lord, that You are the reason and power behind my actions! You will produce fruit and accomplish Your will, and I have nothing to fear. You love me and delight in me and cheer me on. I have only to believe it, and I do. I believe it, and I'm thrilled by this new wave of strength. Your joy IS my strength! I praise you with my words and actions. Make much of my small offering Lord - let it bear eternal fruit for generations! In Jesus powerful name, amen.

These are the words of encouragement I needed today. Thank you so much for posting. This year as things get busy I will remember this post and think that I am a sower. :)
