So, before I trot off with my family to run through a bale maze and look at a scarecrow trail, I'd like to share this poem with you (from my book). I decided on this one because it makes me smile. It reminds me of my 4 year old son whose innocent eyes can make me bend over laughing. I adore his innocence beyond words.
Rock Seed
I tried to plant a round grey stone
so it would grow to be
a super great enormous big
gigantic climbing tree
I asked my mom if I would see
when my rock seed would grow
I watched the ground unmoving
my mom smiled and then said “no”
My mom tried to explain to me
that rocks are not tree seeds
I tried real hard to understand
but I am only three

aww this is so innocent and pure. I love the metaphors you use. reminds me of how we are as innocent children and then grow to understand the harsh reality
